An Ugly Duckling

I think this has to be the worst piece of furniture I have ever bought. It is not in horrible shape, its the color. It was yellow and then painted brown.
It is an Ugly Duckling!!

Why oh why did the have to paint everything yellow? The inside and the outside. Even the back is yellow. It is not even a pretty yellow! It is bright and intrusive!

Recycling Flowers

Trying to get my house in order after the wedding has been quit a feat!

There is so much stuff everywhere. You know the stuff you just don't know what to do with.

I finished the outside yesterday. Remember the two arrangements at the foot of the pavilion columns?

They were used in the church and at the reception. When it was all over with I was going to just leave them outside. I hated to think that they couldn't be enjoyed somewhere different.

I brought them in the house and started taking them apart. I always keep vases that I receive for loose flowers.

I started to create arrangements. Mind you I am NOT a floral designer. I just placed them in as I saw fit.

I had flowers all over my home!
I am so glad I didn't throw these away!

I think I came up with 10-12 different arrangements out of the two.

I even used the bouquets to lay around. I wanted to show you the bridesmaid bouquet. Simple yet elegant. Check out the wiring.

 Just beautiful!

So try recycling something by turning into something different. Most objects can be transformed. Instead of throwing it away recreate it.
Saves you money and leaves you with something to be enjoyed!

Have a beautiful day!

Thanks to The Answer is Chocolate for featuring my french piano bench!

The Wedding Reception

Thank you for the feature of my French Piano Bench at The Graphic Fairy!

The morning of the wedding and the beginning of the decorating.
We decided to place the tent at the end of the yard so we can enjoy the beautiful greenery.

The Before

The After
Waiting for the guest book to arrive!

I used my handmade moss D for the center of the pavilion. This is where the dancing will be. I used Martha Stewart's pom poms for the center of the fan to add a dressed up look to it.

The centerpieces were simple and elegant with crystal goblets with peonies and raffia to tone it down from being too dressy.

Every other chair had a tulle bow with fresh flowers inserted for color.
The food was great and the presentation even better. I got to hang one of my chandeliers over the tables. It added the perfect touch.
I made a chalkboard menu and placed it on an easel. I left out the Italian vegetable medley ...oops.

I set up seating all over the yard to spread people around.
This grouping had shutters as a faux wall and an antique frame in the center. I had a beautiful picture to put there but was worried about the rain....darn outdoor parties!

The ladies brought out the cakes. In the background another grouping, an old column with my ampersand on the ground.

The cake was delicious! Since this was her second marriage she did not do traditional. I loved to see something different!
I am so glad we had the tent to shelter the sun. I set up a bar out of my shed that connected to the tent. It worked out great!

Adding curtains to the sides of the open garage door transformed the space. You forgot you were standing at a shed. The bartender got to enjoy air conditioning too!

As the sun was setting we danced into the night.

The happy couple really got to enjoy themselves.
Since I was in charge I didn't get many pictures of me and my sister. I did however get one at the rehearsal dinner and one with my nieces at the wedding!

As much as I like designing and decorating, I am glad I don't have to do weddings for a living! God Bless those that do! It is a lot of work!
I hope you have enjoyed this little glimpse.

I can't wait to get back to my regular blogging now!

The wedding....Finally Married!

The wedding was beautiful and it is over!
Congratulations to my sister and her new hubby!

I have to say that I am exhausted but happy the way it all turned out. It rained a little in the morning but then the sun came out and the rest of the day was nice!
The wedding was at the Cathedral in Nashville. The church is beautiful!
Her girls were the maids of honor
His best friend was the best man

As you know I hosted the reception at my home.
I set up a few vignettes and added flowers for color. I wanted it to be perfect for my lil' sister!

The beginning stages!

Tomorrow will be the reception so come back to see!
